BARWON HEADS VILLAGE PARK MASTER PLAN
Barwon Heads Village Park – A Bike Discovery Area or an Asphalt Bike Pump Track???
The BHA supports the development of a ‘Bike Discovery Area’, as described in the Village Park Master Plan 2021, but cannot support the new proposal for an ‘asphalt bike pump track’, another piece of hard, permanent infrastructure that will erode the park’s character and open space. The Bike Discovery Area is described in the Master Plan as:
“the bike discovery area provides an opportunity for the City to work with the local community and kids to develop a bike area together. The design would be focused on using soil to create tracks and jumps for a variety of skill levels that can change and evolve over time with changing needs. Safeguards need to be put in place to avoid collisions with other trail and park users.”
We encourage COGG to refer to the Master Plan, which was endorsed by Council and go back to the drawing board on this one.
Community consultation closes on the 4th April. Please take the time to look at the proposed design and provide feedback https://yoursay.geelongaustralia.com.au/BHpumptrack
BELLARINE PENINSULA’S DISTINCTIVE AREA AND LANDSCAPE PROJECT – HEARINGS START IN APRIL
Thank you to our members who have donated to support us at the panel.
The timeframe has been extended from 26 April 2022 until 10 June 2022 (from the initial 2 weeks that was promoted). Have no doubt the developers are throwing everything they have at this, plus some. The list of experts is extraordinary.
We are pleased we have a professional representing us as this will enable more professional cross examination of the developers’ expert witnesses. Ironically we have been allocated 30 minutes on the 30th May. The developers on the Barwon Heads boundary have been allocated over a week.
Sign our petition – to protect the boundary, the towns character and surrounding environment https://chng.it/C9YJBPFBKv
We seem to have stalled at 624 signatures and hope for a lot more. PLEASE ADD YOUR SIGNATURE and pass link on to friends and neighbours. The developers are throwing everything they have at this.
FEDERAL ELECTION FORUM 27TH APRIL
We are combining with the Ocean Grove Community Association and Breamlea Association to co-host a Community Forum for the Federal Candidates for the seat of Corangamite.
We have successfully done this for previous Federal and State elections, and we have had good community attendance and interest.
From our experience you can anticipate 100+ attendees from the community.
This Candidates Community Forum will be held at the Ocean Grove Bowls Club on Wednesday 27 April commencing at 7pm and ending no later than 9:30pm.
In broad outline the format will provide an opportunity for all candidates to speak, followed by a Q&A session controlled by the Forum Moderator and then an opportunity for candidates to make closing comments.
We seek questions from our communities, any common themes so we can provide to the candidates by 20 April.
